Over the last year, my business has changed by leaps and bounds - and I hope to continue the trend into 2012! Can you believe it? 2012 already? I remember the Y2K fiasco when all technology was supposed to come to a screeching halt, yet here I sit writing you a blog about it all! Pretty amazing if you ask me :)

I have been super busy between photo sessions, party photography, and designing my new website! Did you know that I had a new website? If not, please go check it out! New – BETTER – Website!

When I designed my new website back in December 2010, I never realized just how hard it would be to maintain each part when I needed to make changes. Today, I launched a new website that combines all the elements of my business – from client viewing to a price catalog (under construction yet). The other websites will still remain in use and open, but will be reduced to just the basics.
My client viewing website will REMAIN THE SAME – no changes to it at this time.
I also have added { Prints for Sale } which are an ever growing collection of photos I have turned into art pieces – both framed and not framed. So far, I have added many categories to the prints for sale and hope to add even more very soon! Excited about this new feature – YES I AM! I not only love to take pictures of my clients, but I love to take nature, architectural, and transportation photos as well. You can find flowers, bridges, train tracks (and trains if I’m lucky enough to catch them), antique cards, and more for sale!
Purchases will be handled by PayPal checkout – all major debit/credit cards as well as PayPal accounts will be accepted for payments.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of photographing one of my favorite babies – for his 9 month milestone! He’s moving and grooving now, so many of the images were action shots! The temp outside was 101*…..and he did very well for it being so hot! Here’s some of the images! (LOVE)

Rescued Furballs

I am a softy when it comes to animals – I love them, especially cats! The other day, my children and I were out and about in town and saw some kids that go to school with mine sitting on the side of the street with what at first appeared to be a lemonade stand. It was 96 degrees that day, so it would have not surprised me to find ice cold lemonade being peddled….but alas, it was furry critters on their makeshift table. They had 6 beautiful, tiny, kittens in a plastic tote – labeled FREE. The kittens were in desperate need of water and food. I snapped a few pictures with my phone and quickly posted them to Facebook, in hopes they would find a home – and soon! The poor babies weren’t going to survive otherwise. Right away, I had friends asking where they were and even had one who said she would take all 6.

Yesterday, my kids and I bathed all 6 of the cute furballs – got them all dry, fluffy, and smelling great just in time to have 2 of them adopted! We still have 4 kittens, with 3 being considered as we speak! They are sure going to make great house cats – eating kibble, drinking milk and water, and already litterbox ready. Here’s a few pictures of these cuties!

Today, we ventured into a laundromat, found a waterfall, and my model went down a slide for the first time in years and I was there to capture it! Surgery Update – When I will be back in action!

I am healing very well – still have some issues with fever, pain and discomfort, but I am progressing well! I return to the surgeon tomorrow for my 1 week follow-up appointment. I hope that she can shed some light on when I can get back into the swing of things at 100%!! Let me tell you what, I am itching to get started up again, not taking pictures is killing me! haha I am not the type to sit idle!

I have been able to do some work from my iPad while I have been down – 3 more sessions booked and a wedding in August! I am so excited! No surgery can keep me down!

I will post an update as soon as I know a date of when I will re-open my studio. Thank you to all for your thoughts, prayers, and for your patience while I go through this!

I host a Girls Night Out party at my studio and the attendees can choose to model with your product(s) for some select photos. Attendees can purchase these pictures for themselves if they so desire at my normal rates for general photography. Vendors can purchase the pictures also at normal rates, in bundles such as CD + 10 Prints for $35.00. You as the vendor can use these images for demonstration and advertising purposes. If you would prefer to donate a product or gift certificate instead of a purchase, you may do that also.

Event Tag-Along

SMTSP tags along with you to one of your already scheduled events. Attendees at the event can model your products and purchase the pictures as stated above. Same vendor deals as stated before. If you would prefer to donate a product or gift certificate instead of a purchase, you may do that also.

Products or Events Photography

Need your products or events photographed? Then let SMTSP help! Set up an appointment for a product session consultation to discuss date, time, fees, and business information.

Your business information can be included on the images for demonstration and advertising purposes, or leave plain and use them as general purpose pictures to help promote your business! Images taken during these vendor events will be used in SMTSP portfolio to promote my photography. Attendees will be given a “release to publish” form to sign at the event to give permission for images to be used and published. Any attendees who do not give permission for their images to be used will be excluded from use by vendors and SMTSP.

Keeping Your Appointment – why it’s important.

Things happen, unexpected issues arise….I understand this. If you are unable to keep your session or appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance if possible. If something comes up unexpectedly and you need to cancel or reschedule, please call me or send a text { (217) 251-7380 } letting me know you will be unable to keep your appointment slot. This not only prepares me, but it opens the slot for another client who may need that timeframe.

A minimum payment is due at the time you book your session. This can be paid via any major credit card, debit card, or e-check for your convenience. See "Book and Pay" above.

Here’s why it’s important to notify me if you are unable to keep your appointment:

In Studio: My studio is located in my home, I do not have a dedicated space where I can leave my equipment set up all the time. Therefore, when I have a session here, I set up at least 24 hours in advance depending on my schedule, sometime I only have 2 hours prior to your appointment to get set-up. The time, labor, and effort put into making sure my studio is perfect for your session is not easy – this is why it is frustrating when a client is a no-call/no-show.

On Location: Where I am located, getting to an on-location session could mean driving anywhere from 10 miles to 90 miles. If you do not notify me at least 24 hours in advance, or a minimum of 3 hours, I will be waiting on-location and have wasted precious time.
I balance my work schedule with my family schedule – so I may have scheduled a session during a time when my family was planning an outing, party, or event…and by doing so, I have missed out on something in my children’s lives. So please, have the courtesy to call, email, or text when you are unable to keep your appointment.

The ice and snow had my studio down for the count for 7 whole days – talk about driving me insane!! I am ready to get back into the swing of things!!

Speaking of snow – pictures taken in the white stuff sure are pretty! I have openings for Winter Wonderland pictures as well as Valentine’s (and all other types, too!!)

“Sweet Deals Week” is underway – and I will honor any of the deals no matter what day you call because I am in desperate need of a session after being closed due to weather for 7 days!!!!

I hated to announce that my studio is closed until further notice because that means I am super bored when I’m not taking pictures! But, because mother nature has been misbehaving, there is at least 4” of ice and 5” of snow that are causing my studio to be inaccessible until further notice. I am only thinking of the safety of my clients! This also means that I am not available for travel, either. Sigh. Winter is a beautiful thing, IF you don’t have to be out in it. What fun we had with the Barker family and their cute birthday boy! He turned 2 that day and boy was he a doll! Toting his favorite book and John Deere tractor, he marched right into my studio ready for pictures! We got some fabulous shots of him with his goodies - some tinsel for Christmas - and his parents for a sweet family portrait! Thank you Kendra and Jaime for letting me capture your memories!
